Went here for a quick lunch and oh my goodness... the Crab sandwich was superb. Clam chowder was THE BEST! Garlic bread was slamming... and this was just lunch. Miguel, the waiter took great care of us and we vowed to come back for dinner.

Had an amazing dinner with my mom. Everything was fresh and delicious. Jessica is such an amazing and attentive waitress!!

oh my lord when i say it is the best clam chowder ive had.. it is indeed the ebst clam choweder ive had. the garlic bread was good but tbh not worht the 25 dollars. so i would persoanlly get just a cup of clam chowder and use my own garlic bread. but service too is on point! the lighting was dark, so just keep that in mind. fish n chips were alright, the calamari was alright. the clam chower wow it really does meet up to its name!

The steak here is cooked to perfection. The meat is tender, juicy, and full of flavor with a perfect sear on the outside. Every bite is so satisfying, and the seasoning is just right. Definitely a place worth visiting again.

Had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. Restaurant seemed busy. However, I was seated right away. Service was on point and food was excellent. I had one of the daily specials and it was extremely fresh. Also, I definitely recommend the Clam Chowder in the toasted garlic bowl. One of the best I've ever had. Will be back!

My husband and I come here all the time and every time we come they are amazing the food is so delicious the service is always pleasant when you walk in and the ambiance inside is always nice and calmning.

Although we have consistently loved our many dining experiences at Old Fisherman's Grotto, both during lunch or dinner, today we decided to have hot tea and a dessert at 4 pm, or teatime. Significantly, the hot water was very hot - very important for a proper cup of tea and I was with someone from England. We were presented with an impressive dessert tray making it a challenging choice! I chose the generously sized chocolate cheesecake surrounded by blackberries and whipped cream which was fantastic. Not overly sweet but a perfect flavor and thick consistence - we loved it. My friend had the tiramisu which was so delicious and creamery. So, our advice is, don't skimp on dessert next time you dine at Old Fisherman's Grotto. A perfect sweet ending to your meal!

I decided to visit Old Fisherman's Grotto for dinner on February 6, 2025. Upon arriving, the doors were opened to us by polite employee. My party was then greeted by the hosted and seated immediately. The ambiance and decor is classy in a nostalgic way. Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable of the drinks and menu items, (I forgot her name, but she was a tall blonde woman). She took our drink orders and gave us time to review the menu. A few moments later the owner came over and thanked us for choosing his restaurant for dinner, I asked what he recommended for dinner. He suggested the Salmon with Apricot glaze or the Macadamia Crusted Halibut with Coconut Prawns. Well, I ordered the recommended Halibut, my coworker ordered the Salmon, and my daughter ordered the fish and chips. The Halibut is one of the BEST I've ever had, and I've had my fair share at fine establishments. The food here overall is AMAZING! The service is top tier. The experience is unforgettable. The pricing is very reasonable for what you get. I wish I lived in Monterey to come here often. Old Fisherman's Grotto is a hidden gem that I will definitely visit again when in the area. This is a family business with a passion for culinary food and delighting its customers. Looking around at the other guests, the staff was treating everyone like a VIPs as we were. Oh, and the deserts are deliciously insane, I had the Bread Pudding with Vanilla Ice-cream(I can still taste the flavors in my mind). Old Fisherman's Grotto is deserving of more than 5 STARS!!!
If you are in Monterrey, this place is a must I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

My wife and I came down to Monterey today to celebrate a milestone birthday. We happened to come across the Old Fisherman's Grotto online, liked the menu and wanted to try it out. We didn't have a reservation but walked up to the restaurant and happen to get the last seat for 2 people.

The service from Tara our waitress was impeccable, the food was sooo delicious (I highly recommend the garlic clam chowder bowl), the chef delivered our food, and the manager checked in to make sure everything was going great and tasted on point. Tara and the staff came back to the table multiple times so we were very well taken care of.

As we were about to leave we were admiring all of the pictures of the celebrities that have been there over the 75 years. All of a sudden the owner Chris Shake walks in and comes over to say hello and shook our hands. We told him what an amazing time we had and what a great team he has.

We highly recommend this restaurant.
